Oh, Warrior Cats? You mean the series that’s basically Game of Thrones for people who aren’t allowed to have sharp objects?
It’s honestly impressive how they’ve managed to stretch the concept of “cats fighting over a pile of sticks” into eighty-plus books. Here is why that series is a literal fever dream:
- The Names: They use a naming system that sounds like a magnetic poetry set found in a dumpster. “Cloud-tail,” “Bramble-claw,” “Wet-foot”—it’s like they just pick two random nouns and hope for the best. I’m surprised there isn’t a main character named “Tax-fraud” or “Floor-smell” at this point.
- The Drama: These cats take themselves way too seriously. They spend 300 pages worrying about “The Prophecy of the Darkest Hour” and consulting their ancestors in StarClan, only to get defeated by a particularly fast SUV or a bad case of the sniffles (sorry, “Greencough”).
