on wallpapers — the “why use your site if they can just generate the wallpaper or cursor” thing doesn’t really hold up imo. a random user generating in one shot gets a messy result with artifacts, wrong sizing, no consistency. what we offer is a curated library — sorted, quality-checked, packed, integrated with our plugin one-click install. that’s the actual product, not the raw pixels. and it’s not all generated either, we still draw some ourselves, that’s just the smaller share now. we mostly generate because it lets us ship way more variety, and that’s a deliberate choice for scale, not a shortcut.
on cursors — those are mostly hand-drawn actually. we’ve got some ai ones and we experiment, but the bulk is drawn. and if someone wants to generate their own and clean it up in photoshop, they can just add it through our constructor or windows. no problem.
on Bro-Mon — this is the one i’ll push back on. every single bromonster is drawn by hand, that part’s all us. the only ai touch is text — if a description comes in messy or missing, we clean it up so it reads well. the concept, look, name and catchphrase stay theirs.
and on the bigger point — i’m not really arguing with you.. you’re right that you can’t let the human part get replaced by a generic ai concept, that balance matters and it’s the line i hold too. i just don’t buy “ai = charm gone.” used right it’s what lets us actually ship all these projects at the pace we do. keep the human core, use the tool for the rest — that’s the whole approach.
To be completely honest Sweezy, I really only use bromon and cursors so this situation doesn’t really affect me compared to road, nevertheless the whole thing with the pushback to using ai stems from a greater problem like job loss and clean water. I’m not saying that I’ll never use sc or any of the chrome extensions (I still very much enjoy them) but it’s already looked down upon in normal people’s ideas, so why would we want ai generated things compared to handrail? Although, I see your point. You (assumingely) a small team of devs working on your own fruition, for free chrome extensions. If you need to use ai for some things, that can be understood. I’d probably be minorly stressed in your shoes. But regardless, I can see both you and roads points of view, both are completely valid arguments with their own reasons entirely. I am not qualified to judge who’s in the right and nor will I. I just wanted to offer my perspective
maybe an extension where there is like a bromon farm and your bromons can help you grow your farm with different crops and different bromons have different buffs or abilities to help your farm like mutations or growing speed.
